Our South Carolina Beach Family Vacation at the Sweetgrass Inn

Our South Carolina Beach Family Vacation at the Sweetgrass Inn

I had the pleasure of spending a beautiful four days at the Sweetgrass Inn at Wild Dunes Resort in Isle of Palms, South Carolina with my family.  This was our first official trip across the country as a family of four and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience!  South Carolina is my home state and I grew up in Columbia, South Carolina. I have such fond memories of beach vacations as a young girl and I’m extremely blessed to have the opportunity to collaborate with Discover South Carolina to make new memories with my boys and revisit the stunning South Carolina coast.

Sweetgrass Inn at Wild Dunes Resort

I cannot rave enough about our incredible experience at the Sweetgrass Inn at Wild Dunes Resort!  Newly opened, you simply can’t beat the location, activities and contemporary design. Just 12 miles from historic Charleston, Isle of Palms is nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway. You are steps away from the beach, multiple pools, delicious restaurants and more! There is also a gorgeous spa that I definitely plan on visiting on my next trip.

Perfect Beach Day

We enjoyed reserved beach chairs on Wild Dunes Resort’s beach area next to the Grand Pavilion. We took my eight-month-old Xander to see the ocean for the very first time. He loved it and couldn’t stop smiling! The water was so warm we could all get in and play. We were able to come and go as we pleased and make the most of our day. There was a cute beach shop, so we bought beach toys for the littles to enjoy.

Dining Options

Whether you are looking for a quick bite or a delectable three-course meal, you have options galore at Wild Dunes Resort. We dined at Coastal Provisions our first night and savored a truly delectable meal. On our beach day, we picked up tasty burgers at Beachside Burgers and Bar and stopped for ice cream at Duney’s on the way back to our room. We enjoyed cocktails and appetizers at Oystercatcher in the lobby of Sweetgrass Inn and a delicious lunch at Huey’s overlooking the golf course on our last day. Everything was fresh, well presented, and yummy!

Our Room

We stayed in the Double Queen Room and there was plenty of space for all four of us. If you need a crib, I highly recommend CharlestonBabysAway the owner Paula Reavis was so sweet and accommodating and the crib was delivered and in our room when we checked in. Our balcony overlooked the expansive pool area with a gorgeous view. See more in detail in my travel vlog here:

Location

You seriously can’t beat the location of the Sweetgrass Inn. While you have everything you need on Wild Dunes Resort, you are just a short drive from Charleston and even closer to Mt. Pleasant. My toddler, Asher, is obsessed with planes and ships, so we took him to Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum. More details on this experience in my Instagram post below:
