I absolutely love to read! Yes! I’m a self proclaimed book nerd and proud of it! I’m usually reading at least 2 or 3 books of various genres. I truly relish in curling up with a good book and enjoying some ME time! We are always so plugged in to a constant influx of emails, text messages, conference calls and checking to see if anyone liked our last Instagram post, that I find it more and more important to unplug and be in the moment. In addition to meditating and exercise, I find reading to be a wonderful way to destress and get away from the daily grind.
However sometimes I find myself struggling to find my next great read, so I was so excited to find the Book of the Month Club! Each month I can choose from five different books curated by an incredible array of judges like Craig Ferguson and Whoopi Goldberg. I choose which one I’d like to read and a few days later it arrives at my doorstep! And I can buy the other titles at a discounted rate. How cool is that! Well get ready because you are in for a treat! I’ve teamed up with Book of the Month to gift 5 lucky winners a one year subscription! Here’s what you need to do:
- Follow Book of the Month on Instagram and like them on Facebook
- Follow Stuart Brazell on Instagram and like Stuart Brazell on Facebook
- Leave a comment on my Instagram or on this blog post with what book has recently meant a lot to you and why
- Happy reading!
And don’t you agree that the best Sundays are spent curled up with a good book and some Prosecco?? I surely think so! I’m currently reading ‘I Let You Go’ by Clare Mackintosh and I CAN’T PUT IT DOWN! Isn’t that the best!
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon!!! Actually all of the books in the series! I reluctantly agreed to read it for a book club years ago (800+ pgs and historical fiction-SNOOZE), and I devoured the book in a matter of days, as did all the girls only book club! The author does an amazing job with character development and setting the scene that I felt like I was experiencing the story along side the characters. And what an amazing story too! I recently started re-reading the books in parallel with the show and am sucked I again!

I’m currently on the fourth book of the Outlander series. Couldn’t believe I had never heard of the series before my wonderful cousin-in-law (is that a thing?) recommended it. I think why this series means so much to me is that it’s such a great catalyst for amazing conversation. Phone calls with my mom are longer and texting family on the west coast has become more of a regular thing.
I recently read Emperor of all Maladies by Siddhartha Mukherjee . As my dad and brother have both fought cancer and WON, I wanted to learn more about cancer and how mankind has battled to beat/cure it (so far unsuccessfully). Depressing in some chapters, but I am hopeful for a cure in my lifetime.
Thanks for the opportunity to win a year’s membership! That would be *awesome* to win! 🙂
Wesley what is your email?
nevermind got it!
*THANK YOU* so much Ms. Brazell! I got the Book of the Month invite today in my email. This made my week! 🙂 You rock!
I recently read Whisper to Me by Nick Lake. It really meant a lot to me because my cousin has the same mental illness as the main character and recently she took a turn for the worst so we’re going to try and find her a support group like in the book to help her.
Thank you so much.

I recently read Game of thrones (book one) and Carry on by Rainbow Rowell. Both are great books and they mean a lot to me because they make me give the inspiration I need as I want to write a book on my own in the future. 🙂
Books are wonderful things!
Thank you for the opportunity to win! Good luck to everyone!<3

I’m obsessed with All the Bright Places. It left me on an emotional cliff that I don’t think I’ve ever come back from. It’s such an amazing book!

I finally picked up my copy of “Cleopatra: A Life” by Stacy Schiff and now I can’t stop talking about it. I’ve always loved Cleopatra, but this book has given me so much more ammo and support for my love. I describe this biography as a feminist reading of her life, debunking the myths of her essentially sleeping her way to the top and instead showcasing how her life story has been shaped by Romans who didn’t like her and were threatened by her power. This book has given me facts to showcase Cleopatra as a strong, female leader who relied on her intelligence and business sense to rule an empire, while also discussing the sexism that painted her as a harlot.

I didn’t know it was just one of a series. I love when I find books that I can then go read all the rest of the series!
