As mothers, one of our greatest fears is to outlive our children. We were there when they took their first breath; we do not want to witness them take their last. So many black mothers have lost their children due to racist violence. Their loss is our loss. Enough is enough. I encourage you to use your voice and your platform. Silence is not an option.
Join me and the @FashionMamas community in signing the @colorofchange and @changedotorg petitions to demand that ALL four officers who killed George Floyd are charged with murder. Not just one, but ALL.
I am also donating to @unicorn.riot a non-profit media organization dedicated to fair, on-the-ground reporting on civil disobedience, police brutality and white supremacy. If you would also like to donate as well, please click here.
There are many ways you can help.
Donate to @blklivesmatter and get involved with your local BLM chapter. Donate to a bail fund that helps bail out protesters who get arrested.
Get clued up about the anti-racist struggle
If you’re not Black, one of the most important things you can do right now is to learn something about the situation.
I’m currently muted, listening and learning on my Instagram account. 🖤 I’m refraining from posting personal content until June 7 as part of the #amplifymelanatedvoices initiative led by @blackandembodied and @jessicawilson.msrd. I encourage you to do the same and use your platform to amplify and make space for black voices to rise and be heard during this time. I’m updating my stories daily with anti-racism resources and highlighting experiences and stories from BIPOC. Let’s grow and learn together.
Please spread the word and do your part. #BlackLivesMatter #JusticeForGeorgeFloyd
