Shoes can make or break an outfit as they can bring a different feel to the whole look. But it can get a bit difficult to match shoes with your winter OOTD, especially if you’re concerned about your feet freezing or dealing with snow and puddles. We typically think of autumn and winter as boot seasons since it becomes too cold to wear sandals and sneakers. Fortunately, not all your warm-season shoes need to disappear after summer — some of the newest sneakers are designed with the cooler months in mind. So if you want more options to switch up your outfits this coming winter, below are a few sneakers you should have in your closet:
UGG Mika Classic Genuine Shearling Sneaker
UGG is a brand known for its comfy boots. However, this pair is part boot and part sneaker, giving you all the comfort of UGG’s boots in a sneaker. It’s a slip-on bootie with a shaft lined with sheepskin and a vamp that has UGGpure, the brand’s repurposed wool on a textile backing. It has a fold-down cuff that you can also leave up, and its color makes it a versatile part of your wardrobe.
Nike Waffle One Toasty
Nike proves that its sneakers don’t see success only in summer or in sports activities. As the name suggests, you can bet that the Nike Waffle One Toasty are a warm and comfortable pair. They come with quilted uppers that make them feel like you’re walking with a pair of blankets around your feet. They come in a few colorways, but the most wintery of them would probably be the muted blue/light purple upper with light suede overlays on parts of the shoes. Since the Toasty collection is part of Nike’s Move To Zero campaign (their climate change initiative), Toasty sneakers have quilted uppers made of recycled fabrics.
Steve Madden Found Sock Sneaker
Nothing beats going out in winter wearing a cozy pair of socks under your shoes. And the Found Sock Sneaker gives you the same feeling. These sneakers have a fun silhouette that looks like socks; they’re a soft, pull-on pair with a knit upper that keeps your feet warm. They fit snugly and around your feet, making them some of the coziest shoes for the season. Because of their size and design, they can go great with any of your winter OOTDs.
Adidas Yeezy Boost 700 Faded Azure
The Adidas Yeezy has released the most wintry pair of sneakers from the line. This was first teased back in 2020 in a tweet by Kanye West, and it has finally been revealed recently. The Yeezy Boost 700 Faded Azure is a winter sneaker model that’s covered in icy blue hues and hints of orange. Despite the cool look, they have a warm mesh and suede upper. A Boost-infused midsole keep the shoes lightweight and comfortable to wear for long periods as well.
Allbirds Wool Runner
Allbirds is known as one of the world’s most comfortable shoe brands — and they’re great for the cold seasons, too. The Allbirds Wool Runner has the brand’s walking on cloud sensation and keeps your feet warm and cozy, thanks to the proprietary merino wool fabric in the insoles. The wool fabric is moisture-wicking, which helps make sure the melting snow doesn’t seep in. The shoes are also lightweight because of the sole’s proprietary low-density foam. They’re odor-minimizing too, so you don’t have to keep them in the closet once the warm seasons roll around and make your feet sweat.
